# District 65 School Board

Evanston/Skokie School District 65 runs Evanston’s public schools from pre-K through 8th grade. Three of the seven board seats are on the April 6, 2027 ballot. [1]

## About the office

- Election — Tuesday, April 6, 2027. Nonpartisan, with no primary.[4]
- Seats on the ballot — 3 of 7. Each is a four-year term, through 2031.[1][3]
- Current holders — The board lists three members whose terms end in 2027: Chris Van Nostrand (Vice President), Sergio Hernandez and Mya Wilkins. Van Nostrand was appointed in February 2026 to fill a vacancy.[1][5]
- Who’s running again — Van Nostrand says he will run. Wilkins says she won’t. Hernandez hasn’t said.[3]
- Who votes — Registered voters who live in District 65: the City of Evanston and a small neighboring part of Skokie.[6]
- Candidate filing — Nov 16–23, 2026, with the Cook County Clerk. Candidates need at least 50 voter signatures.[4][7]
- To qualify — A U.S. citizen, 18 or older, a registered voter, and a district resident for one year before the election.[7]
Winners take office within 40 days after the election. [7]
